Election Results When Evans Democrats & Evans Republicans join forces, to support an issue, kudos to Evans voters for seeing past the “expensive” & “misleading” pennysaver ads & direct mail post cards. Hopefully this vote will send the THREE MEMBER BOARD a message that voters are watching what they are doing! Is Cost Justified?

PART TIME Councilmen & Councilwomen are paid a salary of $15,300 a year. Employee family plan benefits cost Evans Taxpayers between $24,000 & $46,000 a year! Should part-time councilpeople get full time benefits? Over the first decade beginning in 2020, an additional two town board members might easily cost taxpayers over $1,000,000! The Upsize No folks believe there are many better ways to spend this money, maybe even pay down some of the town’s massive debt.

What Is The Best Way To Spend $1,000,000 Of Town of Evans Taxpayer’s Money?

Kevin Gaughan, Founder, Let People DecideIn 2009, I visited more than 5,000 Evans residents in their homes.  I learned that Evans has immense human capital and potential.  “But to succeed you need, and deserve, a cost efficient government.” And under the leadership of Cheryl St. George and Ed Schneider, I know citizens will reject the town board’s effort to burden your future with more politicians, pensions and patronage.  Wiki

“In 2008, Evans voters overwhelmingly passed downsizing the town board to three members. The three member board has fixed many problems created by previous five member boards. Why replace what’s working with what was broke?”

Question For Guy Canonico Jr

In your 10-22-2017 Page #4 Pennysaver ad, you state that you don’t want “higher taxes” nor “cutting or eliminating valuable services“. According to the town accountant, the town MUST increase taxes 5-6% every year to cover increasing costs. Please reply to this post [ Click Here ] and explain how you can stay under NYS’s 2% tax cap without cutting costs.  You can not do both!

Alternatives To A Five Member Board

A town manager is an official appointed as the administrative manager of a town, in a town board–manager form of town government. Local officials serving in this position are sometimes referred to as the chief executive officer (CEO) or chief administrative officer (CAO) in some towns.

Some of the basic roles, responsibilities, and powers of a city manager include:

  • Supervision of day-to-day operations of all town departments and staff through department heads;
  • Oversight of all recruitment, dismissal, disciplining and suspensions;
  • Preparation, monitoring, and execution of the town budget, which includes submitting each year to the council a proposed budget package with options and recommendations for its consideration and possible approval;
